Located at the south suburb of Guiyang City with Dacheng Mountain at the east and Huaxi River at the west, overlooking the national wetland park Ten Li Wetland, Confucius Academy covers an area of over 1,320 mu and a construction area of 150,000 square meters. Established by private enterprises with a donation of 1.5 billion yuan, the Academy includes “Public Education Area”, “International Institute for Chinese Culture”, and “Cultural Creative Industrial Park”, holding such subordinate institutions as Confucius Academy Culture Communication Center and Board of Directors, Confucius Academy Development Foundation, Confucius Academy Academic Committee, Confucius Academy Press, Confucius Academy Periodical Office, Confucius Academy Website, Confucius Academy Art Troupe, Confucius Academy Cultural Development (Guizhou) Co., Ltd., Calligraphy and Paintings Research Institute of Confucius Academy, Yangming Culture Research Institute of Confucius Academy, Chinese Music Promotion and Research Institute of Confucius Academy, and Qiande Traditional Culture Study and Imparting Institute of Confucius Academy.
Adhering to the principle of “creative transformation and innovative development,” Confucius Academy aims to carry forward splendid Chinese traditional culture, cultivate and practice the socialist core values and allows the full play of the functions of teaching and research, striving for building a large-scale cultural integrity with multifunction, inter-discipline, and landmark in nature. Since officially opened on January 1, 2013, the Academy has offered about 100 public lectures annually on traditional Chinese culture by famous scholars at home and abroad, benefitting over 40,000 audiences; established the provincial and municipal “General Hall of Moral Lecture Hall”, providing “Lectures on Chinese History and Culture for Leading Cadres”. In addition, the Academy has been holding a variety of traditional ceremonies, like “first writing ceremony,” “coming-of-age ceremony,” “Chinese wedding ceremony”, “respect the senior ceremony”, “September 28 Confucius Memorial Ceremony”, etc. and the folk culture activities for Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival, “Twenty-four Lunar Terms”, etc. It also carried out a variety of cultural and art exchange activities such as the “Xi Shan Ta Ge” series of performances” and “Xi Shan Han Ji” painting and calligraphy exhibition. Furthermore, the Academy has been offering training to the youth on “six traditional arts”: music, chess, calligraphy, painting, poetry, and rituals. It has been working closely with prestigious universities and institutions at home and abroad, to carry out important academic and research activities such as Yangming Doctrines research, high-end international forum, and Confucius Academy four seasons debates.
Guiyang Confucius Academy will exhaust its efforts to build a platform for Guizhou foreign cultural exchanges, to develop itself into the spiritual pillar of Guizhou, and to revive the brilliant and gorgeous Chinese history and culture!
