The 12th International Conference on Contemporary Neo-Confucianism on “Contemporary Neo-Confucianism and the Tradition of Psychology” is held during the period between October 14 and 17. Totally 160 persons including foreign scholars from the United States, Japan, Australia and other countries as well as the experts and scholars of colleges and universities in China participate in the conference.

A total of more than 130 papers have been received for this conference. At the meeting, the experts and scholars carry out thematic report and subgroup report in turn. Famous scholars including Professor CHENG Zhongying from University of Hawaii, Professor ZENG Zhaoxu from Tamkang University, and Professor GUO Qiyong from Wuhan University make report at the conference respectively on the subject of The Establishment of Contemporary Confucian Psychology and Yangming’s Spirit of Conscience, On the Dialectical Relationship between the Real World and the Ought World: also on the Creative Interpretation of Classical Sense, and Modern and Contemporary Neo-Confucianism and the Tradition of Psychology.

Besides, Guiyang Confucius Academy holds the opening ceremony for Yangming Temple on the day of the conference. CHENG Zhongying, one of the representatives of “the Third Generation of New Confucianism” and the tenured professor of Philosophy Department of University of Hawaii, and GUO Qiyong, i.e. the President of the School of Chinese Classics of Wuhan University, inaugurate Yangming Temple. Yangming Temple shall be open to the public for free after opening, and shall become a landmark piece of architecture of Confucius Academy for its demonstration, research, experience and enlightenment around the construction of Yangming culture.
