The Fifth Knowledge-Action Forum and the International Conference on Cultural Revival and Contemporary Inheritance and Development of Yangming Studies is held at Confucius Academy on August 15. A total of over 150 Yangming Studies experts and scholars coming from more than 80 universities, research institutions and publishing units of China, the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and other countries participate in the conference, and discuss together the contemporary inherence and development of Yangming Studies in the context of cultural revival.

Famous Yangming Studies experts both at home and abroad, including CHENG Zhongying, ZHANG Xinmin, WU Guang, TANG Enjia, JIN Shizhen, etc. deliver keynote addresses including On the Relationship between Yangming’s and Zhuzi’s Thoughts from the Annotation of Great Learning, On the Quad-texture of WANG Yangming’s Conscience Thought, Important to Focus on Action for the Unity of Knowledge and Action, Popularization of Yangming Studies in South Korea, etc., and publish their latest research achievements on such aspects as the theory, application, comparison, development, etc. of Yangming Studies. In the sub-forum, experts and scholars shall also start discussion from various aspects including study on WANG Yangming’s thought, the modern and contemporary studies on Yangming Studies, overseas study of Yangming Studies, comparative study of Yangming Studies, study on contemporary value of Yangming Studies, Yangming Studies and contemporary culture, etc.

According to information, the “Knowledge-Action Forum” is a “Yangming academic exchange brand” established by Yangming Studies and Guizhou Historical Studies Research Institute under Guiyang University in 2012, being aimed at mining Yangming cultural resources, promoting the development of Yangming culture in Guizhou, and providing an academic exchange platform for Yangming Studies scholars throughout the country or even throughout the world, in the spirit of open cooperation. Last year, Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, Yangming Studies and Guizhou Historical Studies Research Institute under Guiyang University, and the Institute of Confucianism under Chungnam National University jointly held the Fourth Knowledge-Action Forum of Year 2016 and the International Conference of “East Asian Yangming Studies and Regional Yangming School of Thoughts”.
