On September 23, 2016, the Fourth Knowing and Doing Forum and International Academic Conference of “East-Asian Study and Regional School of Wang Yangming’s Philosophy” was held at Guiyang Confucius Academy. Over 40 higher educational institutes and nearly one hundred experts of Wang Yangming’s philosophy from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam have attended the conference, aiming at sharing the academic results of regional researches on Wang Yangming’s Philosophy in East Asia and promoting related research development.

Under the subject of “East-Asian Study and Regional School of Wang Yangming’s Philosophy” in the current seminar, the experts and scholars have made thorough and in-depth exploration and exchange in terms of theory, application, comparison, development, etc. The conference has collected 75 papers with the contents concerning the researches on the 9 aspects including Yangming Thoughts, Yangming Followers, Overseas Yangming Study, Yangming Study and Literature Research, Applied Research of Yangming Study, and Documentation of Yangming Study.

Confucius Academy has been devoting to carrying forward and spreading the Yangming Cultures, hopefully to actively promoting the research and communication of Yangming Study through the current forum.” says Professor XU Qi, Honorary Chairman of Guizhou Provincial Literature Federation, Executive Chairman of Confucius Academy Academic Board, President of Guizhou Association of Philosophy.

MAO Youbi, President of Guiyang University, pointed out that Yangming Study is a key point in the research on Chinese classics in Guizhou, hopefully to build a platform for communication and exchange through the current Knowing and Doing Forum for scholars of Yangming Study in Guizhou and those from all over China and even from the world.

KIM Se-Jung, President of Confucianism Research Institute, Chungnam National University, believes that the idea of “unity of knowing and doing”, the doctrine of “extension of innate knowledge” can provide rich ideological resources for the contemporarily confronted regional issues, racial issues, national issues, etc. He also expects the brainstorm may be brought on the forum so as to explore the contemporary value of Yangming Study.
