On November 25, “Coming-of-age Ceremony” of Confucius Academy, as a part of the “Four Ceremonies of Confucius Academy” held in communities and schools, was held at Maotai Institute. Especially for1, 160 young students from the institute, the special “jar sealing ceremony” is the session to demonstrate their ambitions.

Jar sealing is a traditional liquor-making process. The original liquorof high quality is sealed underground in the jar and will be transformed into the finest liquor after alcoholization and maturation. A few days ago, the “jar sealing ceremony” was held in Huairen, birthplace of Maotai, in which cards to show theaspirations of 1,160 students from Maotai Institute were sealed, instead of sealing the liquor.

JI Keliang, a world-class liquor brewerrenowned liquor expert and honorary dean of Maotai Institute brought teachings to the young students of Maotai Institute and sealed their cards, which marked the start of their career as craftsmen for liquor. At the ceremony, he encouraged students to be patriotic and diligent, and uphold the Maotai spirit. He also expressedhis delight to communicate with young students for it made him regain young feelings.

Since 2014 when Guiyang Confucius Academy and Maotai Group established a strategic partnership, they have established friendly cooperation in cultural communication, brand promotionand platform co-sharing. Such exchange activities as lectures, celebrationsand academic research have achieved positive results. The two sides will study and design “drinking etiquettes of Maotai” to contribute to the inheritance and promotion of the Chinese liquor culture.
