On the morning of March 21, 2019, five people, including researcher Suo Xiaoxia, Director of Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, Professor Xu Qi, Executive Chairman of the Academic Committee, and Professor Xiao Libin, Minister of Research and Training Department, made a special trip to Beijing Guang Ming Daily to discuss the issue on strengthening, expanding and deepening cooperation between both sides. Zhang Zheng, Editor-in-Chief of Guang Ming Daily, met with Suo Xiaoxia, Xu Qi and other group members. Li Chunlin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Guang Ming Daily, Shen Weixing and heads of relevant functional departments attended the symposium.

Director Suo Xiaoxia introduced the general situation of Guiyang Confucius Academy’s public education, academic research and foreign exchange activities in recent years, and expressed thanks to Guang Ming Daily on behalf of Guiyang Confucius Academy for its long-term care and strong support for the development of Guiyang Confucius Academy. Professor Xu Qi reviewed the cooperation between Guiyang Confucius Academy and Guang Ming Daily in recent years, and put forward ideas and suggestions on all-round and in-depth cooperation in the future.

Li Chunlin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, suggested that both sides shall closely focus on the cultural policy of promoting the “creative transformation and creative development” of traditional Chinese culture and major national development strategies, so as to consolidate and deepen cooperation in various fields. They shall actively explore and work hard to carry out cooperation, with Guiyang as the initial place and the whole country as the radiating surface, striving to play a leading role in the contemporary cultural development.

Zhang Zheng, Editor-in-Chief, noted that Confucius Academy has done a lot of work for the inheritance and promotion of excellent traditional Chinese culture, and has exerted more influence. Guang Ming Daily may make the most of its own advantages and influence, and work with Confucius Academy to promote the cultural and academic development. The long-term cooperation mechanism and routine working group shall be established in accordance with the meeting memo. The communication shall be deepened to implement the cooperation, and make it normalized to develop into projects and brands, so as to realize alliance between gaints and jointly contribute to the inheritance and promotion of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
